This seems like a good implementation would be an option to set a target to "Maintenance Mode" which could signify no instance deployment, no allowing instance starts/updates without permission, etc....

I'm on board with notifying if a random port is opened by the app and not tracked by AMP. But I don't know the best way to alert the user....

Indeed, you can open up Terminal/SSH and run `ampinstmgr switch ADS01 development` (might have the ADS01 and development backwards there). Do that on the controller and target if you're using...
