Agreed that that is too annoying (not to mention faulty!). Sorry! I remember an important reason for only supporting `tables = "all"` -- it was because it looked quite difficult...

Ideally of course, it would be easy: `check_local = NA` with the logic that if the latest data is the same as the local copy, just use the local copy....
My instinct would be that `readabs` users would never download directly from the ABS website, and instead query a curated GitHub API[*] that is built by some regular, not too...
As I understand, the fundamental problems this feature request is trying to solve is that there is a tradeoff between downloading every time and using local files. Downloading every time...
