Everything is fine now, Broot 1.9.1 displays high resolution images in WezTerm: 
This looks like something the syntect projects really needs. Broot deals with the problem by [using](https://github.com/Canop/broot/tree/master/resources/syntect) the work made by the bat project, which looks like a very good starting...
I don't think there's currently a solution. This looks like a good idea to support this. I'll have a look (but not immediately).
I'll have to look at it, especially to ensure configurability, low color terminal support, etc.
I'll be interested in news about your exploration or progress on that topic, either here or [on Miaou](https://miaou.dystroy.org/3).

There's no way currently. I'll take this question as a request for addition.
Not really a bug, this was by design (space is often lacking in terminals). But it could be changed, maybe with a skin setting. I note the request.
