Do you have indication that inlining the initializer would notably improve performances ? Did you build a test and benchmark, maybe ?
(me neither) I don't think this breaking change would be a real problem for lazy_regex users but I'm not sure I see real benefits either.

A plugin can already add routes. Adding the ability to plug pug views would probably be easy. If you think you'd use it, I'll add that.
