Ah ok, it's an incompatibility with https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/pull/17427. Found the problem after rebasing the PR. Let me fix that
I'm re-opening this issue until the configuration options are fully removed. Thanks for kicking off the work @ldufr
I think we're allowed to change feature gate stability every two releases. I'll go after this information and will report if we can stabilize the feature gate that removes this...
