I had the same issue with https://github.com/aarzilli/golua. This PR fixes it. (On 1.7 as well, btw.)
I don't know if the purpose of Awesome CL is really to stick to just "awesome" libraries, I believe we have a number of unpolished, debatable libraries in the list....

Hmmm... Hard to guess. Are the .png files actually present in /tmp? If not, can you try running `convert` over a dummy image, e.g. convert my-image.png new-file.png ?

At first glance it should already work if you provide the right programs (e.g. change `scrot` for some Windows screenshot program). Or is there a more serious incompatibility?
It does not rely on the screenshot program at all, it only needs a set of image files to work on. So yes, I think any commandline tool would do...
