Launcher only waits for events, never detects screen change

When starting the launcher, I get

$ autorandr-launcher  --verbose
Connected to server
Waiting for event
Waiting for event
...

And it waits for events forever, never detecting anything.

I'm on Guix System, autorandr 10.1.

What video driver you have there? I am experiencing the same with nvidia proprietary.
