Publication API is a good idea. I remember that I had to implement some workarounds for canopen above plc4x api, just to keep other bus participants happy. Also, some tools/chips...

The historic context of this connection is fairly basic: 1) User application has no ways to determine state of connection, we internally process connected/disconnected events, but user never actually knows...

Fair enough, this means that we clearly need a keep-alive readout to keep token active. I think other client implementations have that option, so its known issue/feature. ;)

@floka94 The S7 protocol is reverse engineered hence its stability can vary depending on many things. The OPM is just an utility which was invented more than three years ago...

@floka94 its open source project, so as for other open source tools motto is "bring your own effort". Since original maintainer lost interest in keeping it up, nothing blocks you...
