For those coming across this issue: this is fixed in [dannyvankooten/extemplate](https://github.com/dannyvankooten/extemplate), which I recommend using instead of Grender.

We are using chi for our shop platform & API on https://platform.boxzillaplugin.com. Nothing too crazy, about 80 routes total. Also running behind NGINX.

The [new debug log](https://mc4wp.com/kb/how-to-enable-log-debugging/) seems a proper solution for this, as people can set-up log monitoring should they want to.
