Turn off Security Web Service and Parental Control Web Service. These add masses of latency and can be circumvented with Filter Lists instead.

Not an answer - however what is the benefit of setting _serve-expired-reply-ttl_ to _zero_? I'm not using Redis or anything - just straight Unbound. Thanks!

Is it not somewhat easier to just fork PiVPN and customise it for DietPi?
