Can you separate the eslint config file changes and make a new PR targeted at main?

Rereading the [prior discussion](https://bugs.launchpad.net/mixxx/+bug/1522505), I am confused why you chose this implementation. It seemed the consensus was to add a checkbox in the preferences rather than a command line argument.

Let's not delay 2.3.1 further for PRs that haven't started review and get to work reviewing the backlog of mapping PRs for 2.3.2.

Note that there were a lot of changes to this code between 2.3 and main so someone is likely to have to deal with merge conflicts which might get messy.
