I ended up writing my own library a while back to address this, leveraging [autocompleter](https://github.com/kraaden/autocomplete/tree/4e5eaf1a974ce25e26a178bb220cc8cb5da44e0e) for the suggestions rendering as it's lightweight, dependency-free and plays nicely when used within forms....
