I think streaming the episodes may work, but downloading does not.

It wasn't in the Plex list originally. EDIT: I believe the reason for this is that the version of ffmpeg that Ubuntu is shipping does not support libxvid by default....

Looks like the version of ffmpeg included in ubuntu does indeed include support for libxvidcore but still seems like xvid videos fail to play.
