This seems resolved by `"shell_environment": false,` sublime text preference.
`xcodebuild` which is one use case for a tool like bear, supports `-dry-run` and it runs almost instantly for a build that otherwise takes 40 minutes.
There are multiple ways out: 1. Create a new schema that runs --start as the first thing in Xcode build process. 2. modify the build output via `OBJROOT` and/or `SYMROOT`...
