make sure you have torrent queuing limits set to anything above 0. for some reason 'unlimited' makes it so that torrents don't download. (issue [#373](https://github.com/XITRIX/iTorrent/issues/373))
you can use vlc to watch a video that is downloading. make sure you have the sequential download option turned on.
