Could MuSiC be used for microarray data and compared inter/intra samples?

Hi xuran,

Thank you for your excellent work. I was wondering if MuSiC could be used for microarray data or not? And if the results of MuSiC could be compared across samples(inter-sample) and across cell types(intra-sample) or not.

I would also be interested to know if the method can be adapted for use in microarray data.

Any comment on this @xuranw?

I am also interested in this application in microarray data. Looking forward to your comment @xuranw.

I think @xuranw had stated something like microarray data can't be used to infer the cell components in the original paper as below shown:

Cell type proportions cannot be estimated by MuSiC with TPM information alone.

From the paper

In my opinion, TPM is a measurement similar to microarray expression. If I were wrong, please correct me.

Hi @xuranw,

Thanks again for your tool. I appreciate how well you're documenting it and how you've written a clear and simple to follow tutorial. What is your take on running MuSiC on microarray data? I've successfully run MuSiC on Microarray data and wish to understand how scientifically sound it is to compare MuSiC-predicted cell proportions between conditions in the same microarray study?
