Sorry for replying this late, I forked the project trying to get it working on a raspberry/raspbian but it never did, I'm afraid it was developed for an older version...

@mamert The changelog of the sources [hidclient.c](https://github.com/xenogenesi/hidclient/blob/master/hidclient.c) mention Lubuntu 11.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, maybe you can check which ones work and which version of bluez they install.
