oh, whoops. I fixed the missing files, and dropped the unnecessary dependency. successfully followed that gist, I'll give that a shot.

the numbers for _thumb_ are not significantly different with the new build.

`--enable=fast-csg --enable=fast-csg-remesh` segfaults on all my models. renders of simple shapes do not, so I don't _think_ my build is broken.

@tharvik thank you for sharing. right now I'm having an issue, but I think need to upgrade my nvidia drivers. I'll spend some more time with it this weekend.

the default settings of ltoize need `sys-devel/gcc` built with `USE=graphite`. you can either skip the graphite flags or rebuild gcc

didn't work with `-ffat-lto-objects` for me either. +1 for disabling lto completely
