That sounds like a good idea. I might actually take a look at it, even though I haven't worked on this project in 7 years.
[This thing](https://github.com/wltsmrz/jerbil/blob/eabc66ff03bb6d84ec9a06b0739b3f266c511c20/jerbil.js#L26) has automatic reconnects and automatically re-uses / re-watches tubes on reconnect. It doesn't have anything advanced like an exponential backoff etc., but seems to work. Would be nice...
