I confirmed that this isn't making the consumer hang and is not really having any adverse effects. However, we should be handling these exceptions better.
Any updates on this? I repeatedly keep getting these errors, don't think it is fatal though.
I am not closing the consumer. This happens while the consumer is idle for sometime waiting for messages on certain partitions.

Hi this is interesting. Does your application use windowed tables? Is there any issues the application is facing with respect to kafka connection.

@mwolting could you provide us an example app that we can run locally to reproduce this? That should help us find the culprit a lot better.
