in my opinion command prompt check/match should be done after sucessfull logon ;) btw. never seen a command prompt with '>' sign ;)

What you suggested will be fine. I would also add option to close all terminals from the same group (including clustered active connections). Sometimes I create mixed clusters from hosts...
