This means that the currently select time window is outside the loaded dataset. Increase "Current Time" by dragging the slider at the top.

Did that fix your issue?

Also, GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY sounds like you might not have enough GPU RAM? Try using the downsampled map instead or one of the synthetic datasets.
