I agree this maybe isn't the most clever design. However, there is a quick fix for this, enabling HTTPS :)

Do you have exact subtitle match enabled with this specific library ? If so try disabling it and see if that works. Have you checked the logs for any errors?...

There are some issues regarding the OpenSubtitles API. Can you post relevant logs regarding this issue?
