Folding texts, lists and code
Thank you for such an amazing piece of software!
I am not sure of the coding ramifications, but is there anyway you could add a feature that enables you to focus on a short piece of the file underneath a specific heading? (Navigation by either the header itself or the outline on left).
A similar feature can be seen in Dynalist (clicking on the plus), Workflowy (clicking on the bullet) and Omnioutliner (right click on a section and select focus).
Text expand/collapse would also be nice, but I guess one can't be too greedy. =)
As a huge Workflowy fan, I know exactly where you're coming from. And I occasionally dip my toe into the Dynalist waters to see if it can replace the minimalist Workflowy (sadly, no). But these are very different purpose apps than Typora, and I don't see it needing to add this. Pretty sure it should stay focused as a great editor. Even MS Word, which has feature imaginable piled into the kitchen sink, doesn't have this focus feature, AFAIK.
Fair enough. I know dynalist is so close yet so far.
I am just surprised that the feature is not more widespread since I think it would simultaneously lend that focus that we crave in minimalist apps. (Perhaps it is difficult to implement?) and the ability to see the big picture when necessary. The closest thing I have been able to find is Scrivener, but the outlining and inclusion of latex is clunky at best.
The other close contender would be folding text, which is in MS word. You are right though, even MS word, king of the many features, doesn't have the zooming.
This will be a nice feature. MS Word does that and it really helps in large documents. My current document has many code blocks, lots of text, lots of headings. I got annoyed by the size of document and made a new separate document for some part but I just realized that it was a bad idea and I have to move that back into original document.
I am annoyed by the code snippets which are taking a lot of space. A lot of scrolling is needed to read the text. Collapsing headings like MS Word will help a lot.
Collapsing snippets is also suggested #1090
Is there any update on this topic? I need text collapse/expand feature in Typora, as well!
This is the only feature keeping me on org-mode.
I really would love to see this too. This is the feature that I need to unplug from other apps completely to Typora.
The only feature keeps me using omni-outliner.
Another vote for providing the ability to fold lists (and other blocks). This is the only thing keeping me on OmniOutliner.
Another vote for the ability to fold texts. It would be very very useful to me.
Same here!
Typora is a very great project! Personally I agree with users above. I think Typora doesn't need to be resemble to Workflowy or Dynalist. I just support the idea to add a fold/unfold function which can make huge .md file more manageable.
Another +1 vote on the folding text feature :+1:
+1 for dynalist-like features, could be added as an option to turn on/off to suit the need of both sides.

Folding headers would be a nice to have feature in Typora, but the Outline navigation pane already achieves most of what this provides.
Also if you're considering an alternative to Dynalist or Workflowy then I recommend Checkvist.
It could be great to have such feature. I am using XMind outliner mode currently, but I decide saving as ascii file is my wish.
Another +1 vote on the folding text feature. Folding text like Haroopad could be the useful function , which can easily deal with huge .md file. This is the only thing keeping me on Haroopad.
+1 I would love to have headers folding, even though the outline navigation is a decent alternative.
+1 to fold / unfold text regions.

this would end my endless search for offline, secure workflowy alternative.

+1 vote, would it make even more useful! Has anybody found an alternative application, which features markdown with foldable lists?
VSCode. A couple of user defined snippets for html constructions like this:
<details><summary>Details</summary>
</details>
How about Flod by title? Just need several levels.
