I'm having the same problem. Reverted to version 1.25.0 in VS Code for now and it no longer hangs/freezes.

> **UPDATE :** Still slow with 1.26.0 I noticed this issue started with 1.26.0 on my machine. 1.26.1 was no better. Reverting to 1.25.0 seems to be working fine.
