Couldn’t you find a font that does exactly that? Why does it have to be Fira Code? You wouldn’t use it in everyday life, would you?
Considering that it works literally everywhere else, it probably has something to do with Emacs https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Fira+Code?preview.text=%3E%3E%3D

Also, function arguments that start with underscore mean “not currently used in function body”. If you pass it to the child, it should not contain underscore
