Acute and grave diacritics should be simmetrical

Open afmenez opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

The acute and grave diacritics should be symmetrical. This asymmetry is very visible on accented vowels, like 'à' and 'á', 'è' and 'é'. Besides that, on smaller sizes the acute looks like it's horizontal, which can be confusing.

The grave hangs lower. Maybe it's that?

Sorry for taking so long to answer, I was having trouble trying to reproduce it reliably. The issue does not appear on all sizes. It is most visible on size 9:

Maybe the height difference causes this issue on smaller sizes?

I scaled it up, and I am still not sure what’s the problem. Can you point at it?

The problem is not as visible when scaled up. But if you look really carefully, you'll se that:

  • The grave accent touches the letters with a faint pixel, the acute doesn't (this doesn't bother me);
  • The top pixel row of the grave accent accent is faint, the top pixel row of the acute is darker. I believe this is what gives the impression that the grave accent is more horizontal than the acute, when seen at small sizes;

Ok I see what you mean. Will fix!
