Excalidraw editor into docs

Open yurvon-screamo opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

Description

I like the excalidraw editor, my team uses it and I want to be able to integrate these 2 great tools - affine and excalidraw

Use case

Enrichment an excalidraw diagram to an affine document (currently we insert an image and store the json excalidraw sources next to each other in a neighboring document, this is a is very bad....)

Anything else?

I would also be interested in this and could also help creating a PR. What would be a could starting point or exampl to see how this would have to be implmented?

Would this more appropriately be submitted as a block type request for BlockSuite?

After spending some time with edgeless, I have slightly different perspective.

There are huge benefits with edgeless (particularly frames) that make Affine better for folks looking to embed drawings. Though, that comes at the cost of using a proprietary format - which might scare some people away.

It might be better to enable import/export of common whiteboard file types (e.g. .excalidraw, .drawio, etc). This type of intercompatabilty would be a killer feature IMHO.
