That's not a bug. From your description you have the tunnels on the same belt. They do not connect in that configuration and each tunnel works alone.  So both...
The behaviour you describe is still the same and both setups do behave the same. And it is the expected behaviour, if you take the individual tunnel thing into account.

this works on my end, did you configure the display link after connecting the gauges? The green lamp of the display link will stay dark and it wont send without...
Place the display link on the same surface as the gauges, connect the gauges (one display link can do multiple) to the display link, like you would connect another gauge...

They should not disconnect like that... But I wonder if this is a render Error or an actual data error. If they work as intended, they transfer SU through unloaded...
can't reproduce with only base create, there is no second stack showing when moving from hotbar to inventory, neither by drag and drop, nor by shift+left click.
