Having the same problem on my Motorola G9 play. Changing to the integrated player didn't work. Edit: changing to external media player (vlc) did work for me!
I'm experiencing the same problem, was there anything that solved it? Even reinstalling the entire extension doesn't work, as soon as it's reloaded.
