Combine canvases

Can multiple markers be combined to one canvas? Making an individual canvas for each marker lags a lot when you have many markers.

It is a good idea, to keep a single canvas open across the map and translate geocoordinates to x/y points on that canvas. I mean that's what leaflet itself does. Would be a fun exercise for a rainy day!
