Play stop play when screen have been turned off

Dear specialists, Does somebody of you know, how to modify Java source code so player will allow Me to play live Internet streams when I will turn screen off or if Android device power management will turn it of automatically. Or unfortunately, to support this feature, complex changes inside C source code of .so libraries would be necessary to perform? I love this player, since it allows me to play live Radio or video streams for 24 hours even on mobile phone with 512 MB of RAM. The next very important positive aspect of this project is, that it support auto reconnect when connection have been lost while playing. And last but very important positive facts are:

1. Player do not randomly stop to play even when WIFI or mobile network signal strength is not constant. So buffering is excellent.
2. Player support many phones with many Android versions and this is not easy while using C .so libraries, I have experience with this and this is very positive. So I hope, that somebody of us, who have deep Java language knowledge would add support for play when phone screen have been turned off. Thank you very much for yours support and advices. I AM ready to even test new github release of this project, since its potential is very good and big.
