I've successfully installed algo on a remote (over passwordless ssh) ubuntu before. I can confirm issue being described is both reproducible and a departure from the expected behavior.

+1 (OSX 10.10.2, MBP11,3) I was hopeful, but same freeze of input devices. Display does not freeze as time/seconds still update in menubar.
