Probably you are not root or busybox does not have root enabled. Are you on LineageOS with Magisk?

Works perfect here. Are you on LineageOS and rooted with Magisk? This is how it works for me.
Maybe you need root with [Magisk](https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk) and root first. Are you on LineageOS or stock rom? `busybox-v1_34_1-51.apk` does work for me: ```` $ adb shell ```` ```` android:/ $ which...
After restarting `/usr/bin/mldonkey_gui` and `/usr/bin/mldonkey`, one file is displayed 100% downloaded with all green bar, which is false. 
None of these errors is displayed to telnet log.
