As mentioned by @mathiasvr flash can be (partially) locked by the vendor, see discussion [here](https://github.com/stylesuxx/esc-configurator/pull/100#issuecomment-819070074). Once we implement direct communication #37, unblock/unbrick functionality could also be added to EFM8.
There is a polyfill by google for Web Serial via Web USB. this should allow to make the whole application work on mobile devices. at least on Android based ones....
