Thanks for looking into this, @ndimiduk and @Apache9 . At this point I'm just trying to figure out how I can integrate the new tests into Jenkins, and validate them....
It seems that Hadoop also depends on this library. I wonder if that could cause JNI version conflict problems when running with external Hadoop ? I haven't dug into this,...

Hmm. Maybe the problem is different. It's missing the commons-logging classes, not the log4j12 ones. In any case the test classpath is broken.

There was already a DISCUSS thread on this back in Januray 2023, but nothing happened. I think that this is visible and high impact enough to warrant another [DISCUSS] thread....
Please rebase @szucsvillo , this doesn't seem to have the fixes my BackwardsCompatibilityIT regression. I'd like to see a clean(er) CI run before committing.
