I'm having the same problems. And I rely on this for my logic. If I can't fix this, I have to look for a new lib.
No I was not able to fix it. I just decided to use [Apache HttpClient library](https://mvnrepository.com/artifact/org.apache.httpcomponents/httpclient/4.5.2) and worked perfectly.
