I reverted the change in question for now, since it caused regressions. Still TBD on what the path forward is.
We just hit this bug in production again - a Primary node hung forever waiting for a replica that never closed, amplifying an unrelated problem with cluster configuration.
Not hearing any other opinions, I opened a PR with a proposed solution. Hopefully that will spur some discussion :)
AccessController is now deprecated for removal, as is the security manager. Is this issue still relevant?
