Macht es eventuell Sinn, die E-Mail-Benachrichtigungen auch abschalten zu können? Oder ist das bereits so angedacht?

IMHO, a setting to (de)activate update checks gives the user the freedom to choose if he wants it. Otherwise tomorrow another user will appear and prefer the update check. :D...
