not a windows user either here. but @lanastasov, does it work if you [enable bash shell on windows 10](http://www.laptopmag.com/articles/use-bash-shell-windows-10)?

Sadly, gpuR has been taken off CRAN so I take it that installing from Github is all we've got now?

Last note: I was able to install it from Github but had to first run `pkgbuild::check_build_tools(debug = TRUE)` to get the right build tools installed.

Really looking forward to this. As a bonus, ROM-RB also uses Sequel as its underlying databasing library, so that whole emerging ecosystem might also get supported automatically!

I'm getting a similar issue trying to build an executable gem (see issue #170). Would something like this solution help you think?
