This refactor should address SDK not correctly supporting jmespath expressions consisting of `*` (a wildcard operator). Relates to #265

We do not have plans to implement this in V1 SDK. But we may potentially implement this in our [aws/aws-sdk-go-v2](https://github.com/aws/aws-sdk-go-v2) SDK. Moving this feature request to track in the V2...
