Yes that's correct @anakin87! I think this would be quite useful and provide a nice interface for quickly creating tools from functions especially when working in yamls.
Seems related to this issue in PyCharm https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/PY-61357/PyCharm-wrongly-flags-attributes-as-bad-implementations-of-Protocol-properties where their linter has issues with type checking against Protocols

Hey @silvanocerza this is one of the PR's that contains a pipeline behavioral test that fails currently but works in your subgraphs branch.
Once this PR https://github.com/deepset-ai/haystack/pull/8431 is merged then the component in this PR will work and be ready for review.
