this isn't easily fixed as it appears to require hacking go's http/server.go sourcecode. It provides a hardcoded globalOptionsHandler used by serverHandler. Raised issue with golang team here: https://github.com/golang/go/issues/41773

agreed, need to find a way to support SOCKS/TLS but not HTTP in the official client. I'll leave this open
