Have you tried swopping the TX and RX, that was my problem!
I'm interested in this also as I'd prefer to not have to use MQTT and just the ESPHome integration.
I've gone through the link that steps me through the process but at the end it says 'Take these back to the Add-on, and paste them into the appropriate fields...
