It was never possible, just an illusion.
It does launch in GNU Linux
It is also a problem that the splash screen would hide the error and that running it in cmd would not show any logs as it would launch the process...
It's possible to come up with any problem you can imagine using a virtual machine, I think we should somehow discourage that in production environments and try to implement testing...
