For anyone that finds this issue, switching to the nixpkgs version of vim and setting `termguicolors` is another option.

I have this issue too. When I type `where` after guards, I expect it to be indented to the level of the guards, but it isn't indented.

Any progress on this? I would love to have dark themes so that opening the editor in a dark-themed terminal would not be so jarring.
