browserSync is the way to go. Just did this recently with Drupal 8 and Lando.

Yep, I had to switch back to SFTP and was then able to proceed with the install. Perhaps you guys can set the permissions of that directory differently for install?...

Seconded. It should always use the active scene units. I'm doing a lot of stuff based on actual movie sets, the dimensions for which are all in imperial units.
