hey @ap-- , thank you for this PR. I will close it however as I had to take over maintenance of xarray-dataclasses. This library was not maintained anymore so I moved it to the xarray-contrib org, updated it to be able to support zarr v3 in spatial-image and multiscale-spatial-image and then made a release of the latter 2 libraries as well.
