Sigh... I just realized (because of the CI) that these changes aren't backwards-compatible with CUDA 12. Do you have any suggestions on what to do about that @RaulPPelaez?
This probably explains what Pablo observed a while ago with the initialization speedup only being seen with MKL
I'm willing to be listed as a maintainer.
