This is what I get using [nano-theme](https://github.com/rougier/nano-theme) that is available on ELPA:
The nano-theme package has a lot of face definitions that are not present in nano-emacs.
Could you try to use nano-modeline instead (which is on ELPA)?

You mean for prog-mode ? Note that you can rewrite any specific mode modeline adapting code from other modes
